If you’ve done it before you’ll probably know what to do on the first day but if it’s your first time you may be a little nervous. Don’t be worried! It’s great fun and our friendly team will be at the start and finish to help you on your way.
First and foremost, please ensure you are fit to participate and seek medical advice if you are unsure. If you are unable to start on Day One this does not matter because your base time will be set on the first day you participate.
How to get there: If you are coming on foot or tram then make sure you set out in time to complete the course and get back to work in time. If you are driving, there is free street parking on Victoria Drive until 8am but parking is also available in the Torrens Parade Ground opposite the start during the following hours only:
- 6.00am to 8.00am (out by 8.30am)
- 11.30am to 1.30pm (out by 2.00pm)
- 4.00pm to 6.00pm (out by 7.00pm)
Please remember that there is no start at Pinky Flat this year.
Familiarise yourself with the course: You need to know where you are going so please make sure you understand the 2.2km, 4.5km and 7.2km courses.
Have you checked your distance? Every year we have bags of people changing their distance because they have not checked with their team captain what distance they have signed up for. Changing your details take a lot of time so please ensure you know what distance your are running BEFORE you come to the course.
Make sure you are hydrated prior to and during the event. We will have water available at the start/finish areas and at the University Bridge northern side (11am to 1.30pm only). Nippy’s juice will be available at the start/finish areas only.
Toilet facilities are available behind Jolley’s Boat House – off Victoria Drive and at TennisSA next to Adelaide Oval. Just flash your ID race card. Showers are available at Goodlife Adelaide City on King William Street.
Make sure you have secured your timing card to your shirt or shorts before you arrive and don’t rely on the Corporate Cup team to have string/safety pins or superglue! Do not put it in a holder with your work ID card, as the scanner will most likely not detect it. If you forget your card, there are limited temporary cards available at the Admin tent. Lost cards can be replaced at a fee of $5. Please do not use someone else’s race card.
When you arrive feel free to say hello! Then proceed to the start line walking at least 1 metre behind the person in front of you and listen for the ‘beep’ sound as you proceed through.
When you finish just walk/run through the finish line and listen for the ‘beep.’ If you don’t hear anything wave your card to make sure it registers. You can check your time on the screen in the timing tent. If for any reason the card fails to scan, keep an eye on the clock or your watch as you start and finish purely as a backup, then go to the Admin tent and report your time.
Keep in mind; we always regard the time recorded on the timing system as your actual time, if no technical failures have occurred.
For your health and safety, sports trainers will be on hand at the start/finish areas during the busiest times in the morning, lunchtime and after work. As you can appreciate we cannot cover the whole course so watch out for your fellow participants. As a safety guideline, please report all incidents or unethical behaviour to organisers and be aware you are a pedestrian on a public pathway – please respect others on that pathway.
If you are bringing your four-legged running companion they must be on a leash at all times.
