The Goodlife Health Clubs Corporate Cup has long been a great health and wellbeing initiative for the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI). We recently interviewed Paul Wyatt from DPTI about how their organisation benefits from participating.

Paul first became involved in the event back in 2010. As a member of DPTI’s Work Health & Safety Committee, part of his role was being on the Organising Committee responsible for the coordination of the organisation’s many teams. While he has since left this committee, he enjoyed his role assisting and promoting a healthy corporate workplace so much that he decided to continue as a DPTI Corporate Cup Coordinator.

“I have entered teams for the last couple of years for DPTI. However, I can’t take all of the credit as there is a group of us that organise the teams. This year it is myself, Irene Kennedy and Celeste Peacock who have organised teams for the entire department.”

The event has always attracted a lot of DPTI employees – This year 216 employees have already nominated to participate. With most of the DPTI workplaces close to the River Torrens it provides the perfect opportunity for staff members to get fit and healthy during their lunch breaks or after work.

“I see the benefits of the Goodlife Health Clubs Corporate Cup as being about building fitness, teamwork and morale amongst DPTI employees. There is always a bit of healthy competition and camaraderie between staff members and teams. But it is mostly about being fit and active and improving on personal times. Mind you, I’m a bit slower around the track these days!”

The Goodlife Health Clubs Corporate Cup team would like to congratulate Paul, Irene, Celeste and all of the DPTI staff on such a great organisational initiative which not only promotes a healthy workplace, but helps to get so many staff members involved in this event.

So why not get some colleagues together to start a similar health and wellbeing initiative in your workplace? Or perhaps set an in-house challenge with prizes or an end of event presentation to promote participation in the Goodlife Health Clubs Corporate Cup…. There are so many ways to get involved!
