The Difference Between Locations/Virtual Events
As registrations for the 2024 Corporate Cup are open, we have compiled a summary of each location or virtual event below so you can see the differences and make a more informed decision. With teams of up to 7 people, you can have different teams in different events, but each team can only be entered into one location and one category. Have a look below to see what works best for you or your team!
- Where: Karrawirra, Victoria Drive (Opposite Torrens Parade Ground)
- Distances available: 2.2km, 4.5km or 7.2km
- Categories available: Most Improved or Fastest
This is the most popular location with approx. 2500 participants, who start at Victoria Drive and walk or run 2.2km, 4.5km or 7.2km around the River Torrens. This location is staffed and participants use a timing card to tap on and off at the start and finish lines, which will record a time and show online the next day. You can participate anytime between 6am and 6pm on the set days (Wednesday, 7 fortnightly rounds starting 7th August).
- Where: Mawson Lakes Boulevard (Opposite Relish on Main)
- Distances available: 2.25km or 4.5km
- Categories available: Most Improved or Fastest
This location is popular with businesses and individuals who work or live in the Northern suburbs. You start and finish in the same location and can either do one lap (2.25km) or two laps (4.5km) around the lake. This location is staffed and participants use a timing card to tap on and off at the start/finish which records your time. You can participate at this location from 6:30am until 1:30pm every second Wednesday, starting 14th August. Parking is very accessible either on the street or in the ALDI carpark.
- Where: Semaphore South
- Distances available: 2.25km or 4.5km
- Categories available: Most Improved or KM Tracker
This is a virtual location with a 2.25km or 4.5km option. Located on the Esplanade at Semaphore South, this location runs Thursday with 7 fortnightly rounds beginning 15th August. The aim is to improve your time each round. As there are no timing cards, you can complete the walk/run anytime during the day – there are no staff onsite so you track your walk/run yourself during a GPS app (FitBit, smartwatch or phone) and then upload a screenshot of your time to our portal. Free parking is available 24/7.
- Where: Anywhere you like
- Distance: Whatever you want to achieve
- Sub-categories: Work team or social/running group team
A flexible, fully virtual option where participants can participate anywhere at any time. The aim of this category is to complete as many KMs as possible. Instead of having to walk/run on a certain day, these rounds are for the whole fortnight so you can choose to walk/run once a fortnight as per the traditional Corporate Cup style, or you can choose to incorporate additional walks/runs in the fortnight – it’s up to you.
As opposed to counting steps, this counts ‘activity’ which you track with a GPS app (i.e. watch, phone, FitBit) and then upload a screenshot to our portal. This means you can incorporate runs/walks you already do e.g. walking your dog everyday, and this counts as the activity.
To keep the motivation up, as this is a online competition, we have introduced round targets (bronze, silver and gold distances) as well as achievement targets such as walking Adelaide to Port Wakefield etc. This category is quite different to the traditional Corporate Cup so we have created a video to further explain this category.
