In this week’s ‘Friends of the Corporate Cup’, we highlight Tania Cooke – a KM Tracker participant doing extremely well this year. In the first 2 rounds (4 weeks), she walked over 550km! Below is our chat with Tania.
What attracted you to your first involvement with the Corporate Cup?
I’ve been a walker since getting my Fitbit in 2015, so thought what a great way to use my walking, and maybe push myself a bit further.
What do you love about participating in the KM Tracker category?
Even though I was a walker previously and saw my steps add up each day, it’s been great seeing all the KM’s add up and the healthy competition “Just one more K” when seeing the leaderboard. Having to track the walks I have been using the opportunity to discover new tracks in my local area which I am finding enjoyable.
You have been clocking up a lot of KMs! How do you manage to fit all your walks in?
I am an early riser/morning person, I clock up my 1st big walk before anyone gets up, rain or shine. My neighbour and her border collie join me on that walk most week days so that helps the KM’s add up. I then add lots of additional walks/KM’s where I can fit them throughout the day.
Does your organisation do anything extra to support the event and keep momentum up within the team?
I work for a company with different branches. In my branch there is a lot of friendly banter with the people who are participating especially if they aren’t in my team to try and see what KM’s they have clocked up and how they are achieving them.
Well done to Tania and all of our KM tracker participants – keep up the great work and we can’t wait to see how many KMs everyone completes.
