The Don Leitch Memorial Trophy – Honouring the legacy that started it all

Did you know the Corporate Cup began with a simple but powerful idea?

Over 45 years ago, the late Mr. Don Leitch – a nutritionist with the CSIRO – was inspired during a trip to Sydney. There, he witnessed two companies informally racing each other around the Domain during their lunch breaks. The event was relaxed, had minimal rules, and fostered a fun and healthy rivalry. Don saw beyond the race. He saw an opportunity. He brought the concept back to Adelaide with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of office-bound workers through consistent physical activity over 16 weeks. What started as a small initiative has grown into the Corporate Cup we know today – an event that’s inspired thousands to move more and connect through running.

What is the Don Leitch Memorial Trophy?

The Don Leitch Memorial Trophy is a special award given each year to an individual or team who truly embodies the spirit of the Corporate Cup. It recognises:

Sportsmanship
Self-motivation
Encouragement of others
Whether it’s someone who cheers on teammates rain or shine, or a team that uplifts others every week, this award honours those who make the Corporate Cup more than just a run.
